One might say it has become a tradition: The dark wheat beer has become one of the most accomplished beers in Weihenstephan’s portfolio. And it’s Gold again: It came out on top in the category German Style Wheat Ale.

"Well-deserved champion"

Brand Ambassador Matthias Ebner was on his market journey in the US at the time of the competition – and was delighted to receive this prize: „Our dark wheat beer is a well-deserved champion in this category. It convinced the judges with its nuances of ripe bananas and the slight hints of cloves.“ It has been a worthy conclusion for Ebner’s trip to the States – which has been his first since the beginning of the pandemic. „It has been a great feeling to see our partners and friends overseas once again – and also to meet new faces on the way. And now it feels even better to return home, accompanied by our Gold medal.“

"Award dedicated to the whole brewery"

Prof. Dr. Josef Schrädler, Director of Weihenstephan Brewery, was overjoyed: „This is an award dedicated to the whole brewery. It simply shows how much effort every single one in Weihenstephan puts into our delicious beers.“

The World Beer Cup is known as the „Olympics of Beer“, awards extraordinary brewing and takes place every other year.
